 Ajit SiduSackville resident Ajit Sidu is only 14 years old, but he is a rising star on the badminton scene in Atlantic Canada. Ajit recently returned from the Atlantic Canada Junior Badminton (March 12 to 14th) Championships where he placed second in an exciting final match in the boys under-16 age category. He also attained a second-place finish, with his partner Myles Dalton from Pugwash, in the boys under-16 double event, and a third place finish in the mixed-doubles category with his long-time partner, Jennifer Medieros, of Bedford. Ajit is an outstanding sportsman and a very focused young man. His immediate goals are to win the Altantic Canada singles title for under-16 boys next year and to be a member of Nova Scotia badminton team for the Canada Winter Games team in 2007.
Ajit moved to Nova Scotia from Newfoundland at the age of 5. Since age 9, he has resided in Sackville with his parents Kamal and Alice, and his younger sister Anita. Badminton is a family affair in the Sidu family. Ajit’s father introduced him to badminton at age 9. Ajit is an honours student in grade eight French immersion at Leslie Thomas Junior High, a member of his school’s basketball and badminton teams, a well as the badminton teams, and is active in his church.
