Lisa Rowe

Lisa Rowe

DETACHMENT I.S. TECH NAMED TO SPORTS HONOUR ROLL
Certainly an all-star in terms of her support of cadet unit information systems requirements in Eastern Ontario, Warrant Officer (WO) Lisa Rowe recently received major recognition from the Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency (CFPSA) for her outstanding participation and support of athletics. She joined a league of prestigious military athletes when she was named to the Canadian Forces Sports Honour Roll.

WO Rowe is an avid softball, hockey, soccer and broomball participant. She has competed in 20 CF national sports championships over the years and has accumulated an impressive inventory of hardware to prove it. She has seven gold and six silver medals in broomball, softball and hockey to her credit, three CF National MVP Awards for softball, seven CF National All-Star selections, including three as the All-Star defensive player in broomball and four as the All-Star pitcher for softball. She has also competed in 20 CF regional sport championships, winning 10 gold and eight silver medals.

But wait: there’s more! WO Rowe was a member of the New Brunswick team at the Canadian national softball championships and of the Canadian Forces team at three Canadian national broomball championships. To quote her induction citation, “Throughout her involvement in the CF and Civilian Sports Programs as a competitor and as a coach, WO Rowe has brought recognition and credit to herself and to the CF.”

It takes a great deal of patience as well as participation to be named to the Honour Roll, initiated in 1987 by CFPSA to recognize outstanding performance and long-term contribution to the CF sports program. WO Rowe confided it can take up to three years because of the number of people nominated.

WO Rowe characterized the honour as “… the pinnacle of my athletic and military career thus far,” and acknowledged the support of her family and coworkers over her 22 year Reserve Force career. She works at the Regional Cadet Support Unit (Central) Eastern Ontario Area Detachment in Trenton.

WO Rowe( nee Carberry) is a native of Sackville, Nova Scotia. She grew up on Dickey Drive, attended A.J. Smeltzer Junior High and Sackville High, graduating in the early 1980's. She played on many sports teams in the area, including: hockey, soccer, and baseball and competed Provincially with the Cobequid Track & Field organization.
