Lake District Recreation Association 2004 Volunteer Recognition Dinner

On Wednesday April 28th, the Lake District Recreation Association held its Annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner at the Sackville Legion. A capacity crowd of over 200 people attended the awards night. The evening began with greetings from distinguished guests, including Peter Stoffer (M.P.), Barry Barnet (M.L.A.), David Wilson (M.L.A.), Mayor Peter Kelly, Councillor Bob Harvey, and Councillor Brad Johns. Mayor Kelly sprang from his seat following dinner to assist the Sackville Legion Ladies Auxiliary, who kindly provided the dinner, with clearing the tables and serving tea and coffee. The other politicians pitched in with the clean-up- a true example of volunteer spirit in action! Certificates of recognition were awarded to volunteers from 31 community groups (listed below) for their work throughout the past year. The 2004 Sackville Volunteer of the Year was awarded to Linda Hefler of the Lake District Recreation. Linda has over 25 years of service to our community.
