Gordon Morgan was born in Toronto, Ontario in 1936. In 1953, at age 16, he joined the Royal Canadian Navy and was posted to Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he served in many ships and establishments of the Navy. In 1968, he was
commissioned from the ranks and trained as a Bridge Watchkeeping officer and a Combat Systems Engineering officer. He served on both coasts of Canada at sea and ashore. In 1985, he was promoted Commander and appointed Division Commander of the Combat Systems Engineering Division, Canadian Forces Fleet School Halifax. He retired from the Navy in 1988 after a 36 year career and was employed by Paramax Electronics Inc. in the Canadian Patrol Frigate Shipbuilding Program as the Integrated Machinery Control System Trials Manager and Post Delivery Ship Support Manager. In 1995 he retired from his second career and since that time, has dedicated himself to serving his community.
Gordon attended Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia and graduated in 1980 with a
Bachelor Degree in Commerce. He resides in Sackville, Nova Scotia with his daughter Kristene and sons Robert and
Scott. He has
5 grandchildren.
